Photography Guide

A great portrait starts with a high quality photo! Below are examples of good and poor compositions

An exception is made for pet memorials. If you have only a few lower quality photos, please share your pet’s breed, eye colour, and any details you can. I’ll combine them to create a faithful portrait.

For best results, take the photos in daylight at your pet’s eye level. Aiming to clearly see the fur detail when zoomed in.

Keep in mind whether you’d like a simple background or a detailed landscape scene.

If you’re photographing more than one pet, just make sure each little face is visible and not hidden behind another.

If their natural eye colour isn’t clear because of the flash, simply include the colour on the contact form.

Try to avoid photos that are too bright or too dark, since important details can get lost.

And if you can, aim for a clear, close shot. Blurry or distant photos make it tough to capture their true likeness.
